Vicky - then and now

Size Ten Again!

I started at a gym 6 years ago to try and lose weight. I was 12 stone and a size 14-16. The initial enthusiasm started a successful weight loss but boredom soon set in and maintaining the loss was an on-going struggle. I swapped gyms 3 years ago to Ocean and found them to be friendly and supportive, again I started to lose weight but I struggled to maintain it. Going to the gym lead me into a false sense of security and made me think I can eat whatever I wanted and in vast quantities. I thought I was slim until I saw a picture of me last year and I was horrified to see rolls. I had let the weight creep up to 11 stone (again!).

I didn't want to be overweight anymore and I did not want to be forty, unfortunately only one of those things I could change so I set out to lose a stone. I sat down and thought about what I ate, what I actually burned off in a day and came to the conclusion that too much was going in and not enough was being burned off. Once I had made up my mind I had to stop the overeating the weight started to come off and as the weight came off I upped the exercise and started running. I managed to achieve my goal in 2 months, but the weight kept coming off I was determined to reach 9 stone before I got to my birthday, and I did! I have now lost 2 stone, 5 inches from my waist and hips and can at last wear a size 10, something I haven't been able to do in 20 years.

I go to the gym 2-3 times a week and I always go straight after work as I know that if I went home I would get caught up in housework/homework/decorating/sitting watching TV and wouldn't go back out again. I only go to the gym, and not the classes, as I can pick and choose the time I go and how long I stay for. I also love the me time I get where I can listen to whatever music I want and just be in my own little world for a while.
